Whether you're the kind of person who studies the form guide over breakfast, or someone who picks horses because you like their name — King of Spring is for you. No bookies. No chasing losses. Just the pure, uncut fun of following your horse across the biggest days in Australian racing.

Six race days. Every race. One pick per race. Simple as that.

Get your mates involved, talk rubbish all Carnival long, and crown a King (or Queen) when the dust settles on Stakes Day.

Two Ways to Win

King of Spring runs two competitions side by side, with the prize pool split evenly between them.

Points Competition
Pick the winners, collect the points. 3 points for first, 2 for second, 1 for third. The tipster with the most points across the Carnival takes the prize.

Value Competition
Every pick carries a hypothetical $1 each-way bet. Dividends from Top Tote Plus on Sportsbet. The biggest return at the end wins. Love a roughy? This is where you cash in.

Good to Know
  • →Tips are locked 10 minutes before each race. Miss the cut? You'll automatically get the top weighted runner — but early tips are always better.
  • →If your horse is scratched before the deadline, you can swap it out. If it's a late scratching after the lock, you automatically receive the top weighted runner — the same rule as a standard scratching.
  • →Each race day carries a $50 Daily Prize — one for top points, one for best value. Any day is a chance to snag one.
  • →Miss 3 or more of the 6 rounds and you won't be eligible for the major prize pool — stay active.
  • →In the event of a tie, the prize for that position is split evenly between all tied participants.
  • →The leaderboard updates live throughout each race day. Banter encouraged — via the Banter Board.
  • →Entry is $50, paid via bank transfer before the first race on Caulfield Cup Day.

Not a form student? Doesn't matter. One roughy running first on Cup Day can leapfrog the whole field in a single race. Back your gut, chase the big number, and see what happens.

Getting Set Up
Sign Up, Install & Notifications

A five-minute setup so you never miss a race day.

Create Your Account

Sign Up
Head to kingofspring.tips and tap "Sign up here" on the home screen. Fill in your name, email address and a password, then tap Create Account.

Wait For Approval
New accounts are reviewed by an admin. You'll get an email as soon as you're approved, usually pretty quick. No action needed on your end in the meantime.

Sign In
Once approved, head back to kingofspring.tips, tap Sign In, and enter your email (or username) and password.

Install The App

King of Spring works like a real app on your phone, no App Store needed. Installing it means faster access on race day and is required for push notifications to work.

On iPhone (Safari)
Open kingofspring.tips in Safari. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow) along the bottom of the screen. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen", then tap Add in the top corner. The King of Spring crown icon will appear on your home screen.

On Android (Chrome)
Open kingofspring.tips in Chrome. You should see a banner at the bottom of the screen prompting you to install, tap Install. If it doesn't appear, tap the ⋮ menu in the top right and choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".

Turn On Notifications

Don't rely on remembering to check the app. Turn on notifications and we'll let you know when a round opens, if one of your horses is scratched, or when you've tipped a winner.

Open My Profile
Once signed in, tap the My Profile tab at the top of the app.

Choose Your Alerts
You'll see toggles for Round Opens, Scratchings and Tipped It results, each with a separate switch for Email and Push. Turn on whichever suits you, most tipsters keep both on.

Allow Notifications
The first time you switch on a Push toggle, your phone will ask permission to send notifications. Tap Allow, this only needs to happen once. If you've installed the app to your home screen first (see above), this works far more reliably.
